Admit to God that you are a sinner. Sin is doing what we want to do, not what God wants us to do. Ignoring God or putting Him off until later is also just the same as doing "bad things." Read Romans 3:23 and Romans 6:23. Turn away from your sin (repent). Read Acts 3:19 and 1 John 1:9. Our sin separates us from God, so we cannot know His love and plans for us.
Believe that Jesus is God's Son and accept God's forgiveness from sin. Read John 3:16, John 14:6, Romans 5:8, Acts 4:12, and Ephesians 2:8-9. Jesus Christ is God's ONLY provision for our sin. We cannot work or earn our way to Him. Jesus paid the penalty for our sins when He died on the cross.
Confess your faith in Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord (Romans 10:9-10). We must choose to receive Jesus (John 1:12, John 3:1-8). Commit your life to Him (live for Him, doing your best to obey what He has told us to do in the Bible) Read Luke 9:23.
